Mulan (1998) is a film that chronicles the life of a maiden China (Mulan) who, in order to restore the honor of his family, decides to impersonate his father in the war for forced to go to the poor elderly. During the time it takes the war against the Huns, Mulan trains consciousness face many hardships to survive. Along with the help of a small dragon sent to protect their ancestors, Mulan gets to perform its mission, to recover his family's honor.
There are some parallels in this film with the narration of the Odyssey that can be seen clearly: Mulan, the heroine, decides to make a journey with a clear purpose. The journey is not done alone, as has the support of a small dragon that help and a little cricket that gives luck. By comparison with the Odyssey's can relate to the crew that accompanies Ulysses, as they help each other.
Al dig deeper into this film, we see more parallels between the journey of Mulan and Ulysses. The girl, at the beginning of the film is aided by the gods to survive the war and return safely to their home, sending him to Mushu, a dragon that will take care of it during the war, this reminds us of when Odysseus is helped by the gods as such by Athena, who tries to help to return home.
In both cases, it highlights a sense of the protagonists to others, Mulan falls for the captain of his army, Captain Shang and Ulysses has several affairs during the trip.
Each actor has to face various adversities that will mean a bigger problem each time to return home. By Mulan has to face the army of the Huns, who attempt to seize the city of China. And by Ulises each landing to do with their crew in the various islands is a danger and an obstacle to overcome, because you never know what you can find.
Faced with these problems both have to overcome the death of some of their peers.
As shown in the video Mulan is increasingly able to overcome and performing their duties, like Ulysses when he manages to overcome all the problems encountered since embarked with his crew until he returns to Ithaca. Ultimately all these parallels we note that the character of both is very similar, because it takes strength, courage and cunning to that, in addition to getting beat all the problems, get to reach your destination safely.
